About Me

Pastor Desmond W. Wallace answered the call to the gospel ministry at the age of 16 under the leadership of Pastor Edward Alexander, Jr. of Christian Baptist Church. A proud 1999 graduate of Washington-Marion Magnet High School, he went on to study Christian Education and Pastoral Ministries at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, laying a strong foundation for a lifetime of service to God and His people.

Over the years, Pastor Wallace has served faithfully in numerous areas of ministry, including Associate Minister, Youth Director, Assistant Youth Pastor, and Youth Pastor. He has also ministered in various roles, including Praise and Worship Leader, Usher, Junior Usher, and Youth Leader, and previously served as President of Youth and Junior Usher Board. He has also been active in Men’s Ministry, helping to equip and encourage men to grow spiritually and lead faithfully in their homes, churches, and communities. In addition, Pastor Wallace has previously served as an Assistant Chaplain with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, where he offered spiritual support to the incarcerated, families, and staff.

He is blessed to serve as Pastor of the historic Mount Zion Baptist Church of Mossville/Sulphur, LA, for over a decade, where he faithfully leads the congregation in spiritual growth and community impact. One of his greatest accomplishments as Pastor came during Hurricanes Laura and Delta, when Mount Zion partnered with various ministries and became a hub for the community, providing essential supplies, daily meals, drive-thru pastoral support, and even technical support to families in need. Another significant accomplishment in his pastoral journey occurred during the global pandemic, when Pastor Wallace continued to preach the Word and teach Bible studies every Sunday and Wednesday. Through the use of online platforms and creative “drive-by” opportunities, he kept the church connected, encouraged, and spiritually fed. Remarkably, during this time, the ministry not only endured but continued to grow.

Beyond the pulpit, Pastor Wallace also serves his community as an elected member of the Calcasieu Parish School Board representing District 14. He currently serves as President of the Calcasieu Parish School Board and has previously served as Vice President, he has served as the Chair of the Budget and Fiscal Management Committee , continuing his commitment to education and community leadership. Pastor Wallace is also the Director of the Upward Bound Program at McNeese State University, a college preparatory program dedicated to equipping high school students for higher education success. In 2022, he was credited with securing the largest grant in the program’s history at McNeese State University, a $1.9 million five-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education.

A dedicated scholar, professor, author, and counselor, Pastor Wallace holds a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) in Ministry Leadership from Liberty University, graduating with a 4.0 GPA, and a Ph.D. in Religious Education with a concentration in Christian Psychology & Counseling from Cornerstone University. He also holds multiple degrees from the University of Arizona Global Campus, including a Master of Arts in Organizational Management/Public Administration (2012), a Bachelor of Arts in Social & Criminal Justice, and an Associate of Applied Science (2011). In addition, he earned an Associate of Applied Science from SOWELA Technical Community College (2005). Pastor Wallace is also a Licensed Clinical Pastoral Counselor and has served as a  Certified Instructor for the Congress of Christian Education with the National Baptist Convention, USA, equipping believers across the nation with sound biblical teaching for effective Christian living. He also serves as an Online Adjunct Professor at Ohio Christian University, where he helps train and equip the next generation of ministry and organizational leaders.

Alongside his wife, Pastor Wallace co-authored a 21-Day Devotional, reflecting their shared commitment to strengthening the faith of believers through practical, Christ-centered encouragement. He has also contributed to academic scholarship, with his book review of Calling Out the Called: Discipling Those Called to Ministry Leadership by Scott Pace and Shane Pruitt published in the Great Commission Research Journal (2024, Vol. 16, No. 2).

Pastor Wallace is married to Melonie R. Wallace, and together they are the proud parents of three adult children: Darrius, Jeannie, Deseree, and one teenager, Danyele.

All of these accomplishments and years of service have been achieved while Pastor Wallace is still in his early 40s, a testimony to his unwavering dedication to ministry, education, and community leadership. Yet Pastor Wallace understands that every accomplishment, as well as every gift, is to be used to edify and uplift the body of Christ. They do not define who we are as born-again believers in Christ Jesus, for it is only “the anointing that destroys the yoke” (Isaiah 10:27).
